Analigh Tipton: Recently I have been fascinated by YouTube channels. I have a little godson who is six and obsessed with YouTube channels, and I don’t understand, I feel like an old slacker when I talk about it. But one of the coolest things about this YouTube generation, in a way, is this obsession with [pauses] the lack of difference between what you’re watching on your computer and your daily life. You can film your daily life, you don’t need a reality show, you don’t need a budget, you don’t need anything. You can expose what you want and basically you can find, watch and observe someone else’s private situations as much as you want. For me this is a really interesting aspect of what is contributing to an individual’s sense of self and sense of privacy and worth. So for Markey,
BT: How did you feel in certain scenes acting like you were acting?
AT: It was really weird for me, but also wonderful because it was the closest thing to pretending to have done. It can be said that acting is all fiction, but there are so many technical things in it. So when Markey has those moments where he can pretend, and I have to pretend to pretend in a scene [laughs], I think it was a lot more liberating from a situation because you wanted it to come out as natural as possible. I thought she was a good actress, or at least a decent actress, and so every time I did those pieces where she became her grandmother or she became Marilyn (Monroe), I guess there was more pressure because you wanted her performance. was a good one. At the same time, I didn’t feel it had to be my interpretation, and in a way it was liberating in that aspect,
BT: What did you like about working with Tyler Labine?
AT: It’s unbelievable! I don’t know how I would have gotten to some places … I’m not very good at crying at the right time. I can not. I lock myself up in my real life, I quit when I’m acting for sure, because I’m being watched. If I hadn’t trusted Tyler so much, in those moments it really felt like on and off the set he became someone who was a mentor, and still is. We relate and work on many similar things. It was truly a blessing to have someone in those really vulnerable moments. I’m not very good at looking at the other actor and always seeing the character. I can’t as long as I’ll try, but at the end of the day, if I’m going to open up in some way, I have to trust the person I’m looking at. It’s probably one of my biggest falls as an actor,
